Sometimes people reach out to me with questions about coaching and I will answer some of the most frequently asked questions here! If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative and personalized process aimed at guiding individuals, groups and teams to reach their full potential, set and achieve goals, and overcome challenges. Coaching provides guidance, support, and tools for personal and professional growth, making it a valuable resource for improvement and success.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching and therapy are complementary services that both serve their own purpose and also have overlapping benefits. While therapy is generally known for supporting someone through traumas and past events, therapists experience a greater depth in cognitive and behavioural understanding in their extensive training. It's important to recognize that coaches are not equipped to explore trauma and it's a best practice for a coach to know when to refer a client to therapy. Coaching is known for supporting clients in creating a new way of Being to move forward in areas where old patterns and behaviours seem stuck and are preventing the client from fully experiencing life.
What type of coaching do you provide?
I primarily focus with individuals in business ownership or business leadership who feel stuck, that there is more they can do to grow their brand and their footprint in the world.
I have worked with clients looking for life coaching and those looking to learn more about the science of breathing.
I provide group coaching in the realm of Mental Fitness - this is for individuals looking to join a group or for groups and teams seeking development in Positive Intelligence. I also provide group coaching programs for team development or organizational improvement - reach out for a complimentary call to discuss what custom coaching I can provide for you.
How do you unlock the potential of your clients?
To unlock higher levels of success, we focus on silencing limiting beliefs, identifying missing systems, understanding team development and ensuring you have a plan for profit. I integrate tools and resources that heighten your level of self awareness. When appropriate, we use mindful practices like breathing and stretching to bring balance into your work day and increase productivity and wellbeing. I believe in leading with empathy and self compassion and when the client is ready to explore this world, we dive into what becomes available within their being.
What is Mental Fitness?
Mental fitness can be defined as having the skills and practices to improve and sustain your state of wellbeing and perform at your best. Through consistent and intentional use of tools to strengthen the part of your brain that serves you and the quiet part that sabotages you, you can boost your performance, improve your wellbeing and strengthen your relationships. Ultimately, you will be better equipped to handle life’s challenges with a more positive mindset and less stress. Is coaching confidential?
Yes! Coaching is entirely confidential. I will not share any information or discussions with anyone else, except in situations where your safety or the safety of others is a concern. I follow the standards of the International Coaching Federation standards as follows: “As a Professional Coach, I maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality with all parties as agreed upon. I am aware of and agree to comply with all applicable laws that pertain to personal data and communications.”
What kind of credentials do you have?
Alongside over 25 years of business leadership experience which has required me to use different levels of coaching techniques, I have been training with several programs since 2020. Most recently I completed certification with the Co-Active Institute (CTI) and am considered a professional coach (CPCC). I have also completed a Breath Coaching certification through Yoga Body, trained in Mental Fitness coaching through Positive Intelligence and hold my Practitioner Certification through Predictive Index. Since 2020, I have dedicated over 800 hours to practical and theoretical coach training practices.
How often do we meet?
With a 6 session or 12 session package, you can choose when we meet based on the schedule that suits your circumstances best. I do find that clients who meet every 2-3 weeks gain momentum quickly and see the value come to life as long as they are acting on their insights.
Where do we meet?
Our coaching calls are mostly done over Zoom or a phone call. I am based in the Tri City area in the lower mainland, about 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver, BC and can arrange to meet in person when appropriate.
What is the best way to see if your services are right for me?
I offer a complimentary 30 minute call to determine if we are a good fit for each other. We both need to feel a partnership will be created and aligned upon before we develop a working relationship and a plan to unlock your ultimate badass!
What payment options do you have?
While I prefer etransfer, I also accept PayPal and Stripe payments.
